What We Do

Community Outreach and Educational Services

Community training and education

Participating in and facilitating domestic violence seminars, meetings, "town meetings", and training sessions to address domestic violence issues. These seminars and trainings are facilitated by agency trained volunteers and the CEO and occurs within existing community agencies, churches, schools, hospitals, and wherever else requested.

Referrals/ Resource Provision

Using a toll-free telephone line, survivors and community residents are able to call and get community referrals and resources for services being sought. Referrals are also requested via the email address. "Help-cards" with current, local resources listed, have been created for distribution within the community.

Individual and Group Supportive Services

Women to Women Support Groups

Facilitating of support groups for domestic violence survivors/victims. Services are offered to the children attending the groups with their parent. Groups run weekly or every other week, for a total of 8 sessions and are facilitated by agency trained volunteers and agency staff. Groups are offered as a.) agency-based (within existing agencies, for agency's clients, for agency's staff, closed groups) and b.) community-based (locations throughout the community, open to all community residents, opened groups).

Case management/advocacy/safety planning assistance

Assisting with goal development and obtainment, service planning, resource linkages, and advocacy, managed by trained agency volunteers/interns and agency staff. Case management services are tailored to each individual and meeting schedules are determined on a case-by-case basis, with at least monthly meetings available. These services are offered to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors/victims.

Individual and group counseling

Facilitating on-going domestic violence counseling for domestic violence survivors/victims to address domestic violence issues and safety planning. Counseling services are tailored to each individual/family and meeting schedules are determined on a case-by-case basis, available in one-hour intervals with one weekly contact possible.

Court Advocacy Services (Se habla espanol).

Domestic Violence Court Advocacy

Assistance with filing Personal Protection Orders (PPOs), advocacy with navigating the court/criminal justice system, court accompaniment, assistance with transportation & parking fees related to court attendance, and legal referrals and resources. Court advocacy services are offered as needed and within Detroit Police Districts.
